To Tour the Shore!

From Halifax to Cape Breton
Maps, Food, Lodging, Events

Below is Highway 7's list of recommended accommodations as you Tour the Shore on your way to Cape Breton Island (or on your return). You could easily spend your entire vacation at these unique destinations. Just head down Marine Drive from the Airport or Greater Halifax (Bedford or Dartmouth), travelling east to Cape Breton. Jeddore, Ship Harbour, Port Dufferin, Sherbrooke, Canso, Guysborough and on to Cape Breton.
Tell 'em Highway 7 Sent You ;-)

Jeddore - Salmon River House
Just 45 minutes from the city, Salmon River House was built in 1850 as a settler's cottage. In 1920, it became one of the Eastern Shore's 18 mile houses, a stop on the way for weary travellers.

Today, this historic seaside inn still offers the same warm hospitality of yesteryear in a contemporary resort setting with the award winning Lobster Shack Restaurant. Be pampered in English, French, German or Spanish!

Campers Ocean Experience
Murphys Camping on the Ocean in Murphys Cove has a number of new packages for 2007, including a 'gather your own mussels' and mussel boil with overnight, and an 'island drop-off' for the adventurous.

Marquis of Dufferin Seaside Inn
A tradition in the Bay of Islands region, the Marquis of Dufferin offers spectacular views of Beaver Harbour as you dine on the deck! Friendly Eastern Shore hospitality and and "park at your door" CAA/AAA approved accommodations. Just east of Sheet Harbour in Port Dufferin.

Guysborough's 'Authentic Seacoast' group of companies has transformed this delightful coastal town on the way to Cape Breton. If it's the comfort of a resort you seek, enjoy a relaxed stay at Desbarres Manor, take in a few rounds of golf the Osprey Shores Golf Resort, hike the trails, kayak, canoe, sun and swim (ocean or poolside), shop at the Skipping Stone Crafts and Gallery, then unwind at the Rare Bird Pub. Not all under one roof, but within a stone's throw of each other.

Whitman Wharf House B&B
An historic Canso location, scenic vistas, beaches and wildlife - what more could you ask for? Relax, renew & revitalize with Whitman Wharf House' special packages for 2007. Birdwatchers' paradise, photographers' dream, getaways for the whole family, or romance!

A beach is more than sun and sand; it is the place where waves mark time as generations, even civilizations come and go.
